THE CLUB

We are an FA affiliated youth football club with training and teams for boys and girls aged 6 to 18yr olds based in Honor Oak Park, South East London.

We are members of the SELKENT Youth League with teams from under 8s to under 18s playing matches on Sundays. We have also recently joined the Tandridge League which our under 12 & 15  girls teams are part of.

Our Saturday morning training sessions are open to all abilities and we pride ourselves on offering training to all children and young people in the local community. Saturday training sessions for new and unsigned players are £4 per session, with discounts for siblings. Contact us for more information about training times for each age group. Please be aware that some groups may be full so its best to contact us first.

As part of our commitment to providing football to as many local children as possible, we also have the lowest membership fees of any club in the area. We charge around half the amount most clubs ask for and this allows us to sign players that otherwise would not get a chance to play organised football. We are able to keep fees low for two reasons. Firstly, we are run by volunteers. Secondly, we are supported by some terrific local sponsors and through fundraising events.

Just because we are cheaper than others, doesn't mean we don't strive to provide the same quality of youth player development. We have more FA Level One coaches than we do teams. Everyone involved at the club - coaches, committee members and other volunteers - has a valid Enhanced Criminal Records check.

HISTORY

Hillyfielders was formed in 1999 and was originally based at Hillyfields in Brockley. The club moved to its current location in Honor Oak Park Sports Ground in 2006.

Most training sessions are based at Honor Oak and the club play matches at Honor Oak and also at Firhill Road in Bellingham and Kings College Sports Ground in Honor Oak Park. We have around 200 children training on Saturday mornings. Many teams also train in the week at various locations.

The club is affiliated to the London FA and plays in the SELKENT league. As at the start of the 2023/24 season, there were 19 teams in competitives leagues. Our teams typically start at u8s.

We are also extremely proud to have restarted our girls team since SELKENT stopped their girls football competition in 2006. Our girls team play in the Tandridge League where, they hope to continue the club legacy from when we first began our girls team back in 2003.

ETHOS

The club is run by volunteers. Managers, coaches and committee members all give up their free time to keep the club going and teams playing.

The club has an open door ethos - our Saturday morning training sessions are open to all abilities and we pride ourselves on offering training to all children and young people in the local community. Please be aware that some age groups may be full and not accepting new players.

Our Sunday team approach cannot be as open as we can only sign a certain number of players. Not everyone who trains will make a team but with enough practice and dedication, most players can improve enough in training to make a team.

We ask our Sunday teams managers to be open and honest with parents and players in terms of how they will approach the season. Some managers will be running teams at older age groups and in higher divisions and will therefore pick players and teams based on merit and to win games. At younger age groups and lower divisions, managers are more likely to give all players a chance and promote equal player development. Managers can choose how to approach their league campaigns - we just ask that they are open with players and parents about how they intend to approach the season.
